I don't think that's the case. Ning Tiance mentions that the MC managed to save three people with this action: Xiao Tong, Yin Yaqui and her mother. If Xiao Tong was actually Yin Yaqui, he wouldn't say it like that. She decided to trust MC and he did right by her, correcting her bad worldview and letting her pass on.
